A level sensor is around for a specific reason and that reason is of course to detect the level of substances that flow. There are a few things that can be tracked such as powders, granular materials and liquids. Once the sensor has been installed it will allow companies to see how much is in a certain container and whether it is actually too high or too low. There are many different types of level sensors available and it depends on what time of product you are hoping to detect.

Solids

Rotating Paddle

This is one of the oldest types of sensors that you can get and it uses a very low speed gear motor that rotates a paddle wheel. The one thing that many companies need to be aware of when getting something like this is that they must be sealed in a very good way. If even the finest particles of dust get anywhere near the system the results you will be getting will not be right.

Vibrating Point

These will detect levels on powder like solids as well as granular solids. They are great for the job in hand as they have sensitivity adjustments and they can also sense the level of powder and static materials.

Liquids

Liquid level sensors

This is the one that seems to be used the most in many companies and this is because there are so many companies out there that need of them, every business from a brewery to a nuclear factory will need these in some form or another and they measure the levels of liquids. if some of this liquid is lost then it is of course going to cost thousands in damage so the sensible thing to do is to actually get these sensors installed.

Of course these are not the only kind of sensors available out there to help out companies, there are things like a capacitance sensor and grain silos that will really help many businesses out too. So in a nutshell, that is what level sensors are, understand it now?.
