Nasco International is an environmentally conscious company that is taking sanitary services to the next level. You see, chute cleaning is something that many apartment buildings, office buildings, and other commercial sites neglect, and this can be harmful for the tenants. Think of all the gross stuff you throw away: old, rotting food, sanitary products, and diapers. When you toss these down a trash chute, build-up can occur, leaving the trash chute smelling horrid and allowing for the proliferation of bacteria, bugs, and fumes.

Nasco’s specialized garbage chute cleaning procedures take this problem and completely eliminate it in an environment and tenant friendly way. This process totally removes all the build-up that has accumulated in the trash chute over the years, meaning it poses less of a health risk and doesn’t smell terrible. And since these chutes already smell awful, Nasco goes the extra lengths to eliminate adding more harsh fumes by revolutionizing their cleaning process. The employees who perform the cleaning know exactly what to do to ensure a chute gets the most efficient cleaning as possible by inspecting the chute beforehand and customizing their services to best fit the owner’s building layout.

The process is pretty basic. First, the cleaning equipment is taken up to the top-most floor, where the highest trash chute entrance is. The other trash chute doors are safely closed and sealed in order to ensure the process runs more efficiently. A specialized winch cable is then lowered down all the way to the bottom. Next, a device called a Whirly Bird is attached to the cable. This mechanism sprays extremely hot, highly pressurized water in order to cut through thick grime and build-up.

Insects, waste, and bacteria are blasted away with a non-toxic, EPA approved detergent. These three components are what create the nasty smell that lingers around a garbage chute, making an unsanitary and putrid experience for the tenants of the building. Once this detergent has cleaned and sanitized the walls of the chute, these pests are effectively eliminated, and new growth is hindered.

Clear, less-pressurized water is then sprayed on the chute after the detergent has been applied. This part of the process removes any of the dislodged gunk and grime that might still be hanging to the walls. This “rinse cycle” is then followed by a thorough sanitization and deodorization to make sure the chute stays clean and fresh smelling for several more weeks.

Once the final washing is done, the winch cable is then reeled back up. The other chute doors are unsealed and the used water flows right out of the floor drain in the dumpster room. Also, the dumpster itself gets a nice cleaning.

With this sticky, gunky build-up completely removed from the trash chute, the tenants are instantly safeguarded against the threat of airborne sicknesses and other dangers. Also, trash chute cleaning is a responsibility that many building owners either don’t realize needs to be done or simply disregard. A clean garbage chute means happy customers and tenants.
